Site visit to check on Manenberg public housing maintenance

07 November 2024

The City’s Public Housing maintenance teams visited units in Plate Road, Rio Grande Walk, Ruth Court and Redriver Road in Manenberg to carry out repairs and maintenance work. The City’s Public Housing Department is investing in maintenance and repairs of more than R1,2 billion over the next few years.

‘It was a privilege to visit our public housing units and see the important maintenance work which is being carried out. Teams are carrying out carpentry, electrical and plumbing work at the units. We want to be certain that the thousands of tenants who live in our units across the metro feel comfortable and secure.

'We recently launched a Public Housing campaign which prioritises safety and maintenance. It is our goal that all tenants live in a safe and dignified manner, in all of our units. We are serious about the wellbeing of our tenants. We encourage them to report all maintenance issues to us at 021 444 0333. Thank you to our residents for working with us,' said Councillor Siseko Mbandezi, Acting Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements.
